The Disney Magic Music Days name will soon transition to a new name… Disney Performing Arts OnStage, which we feel best addresses the broad array of performing groups that perform “on stage” for guests at the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort each year.  Along with the name change, we have made a few program updates to better serve all of our guests and hopefully provide even more performance opportunities.

Based on the growing demand for performance opportunities during the 2011 Spring season, our Disney Performing Arts team will be reviewing applications for Disney Performing Arts OnStage (Magic Music Days) add-on performances beginning 6-weeks prior to the requested performance date.  This will allow our team the opportunity to provide the maximum number of performances possible throughout that busy season.

What’s confirmed

• Maps of the area indicate that two existing coasters at Islands will be refashioned for Wizarding World theming. Dueling Dragons becomes Dragon Challenge (now with Chinese Fireball and Hungarian Horntail trains). Flying Unicorn, a family coaster, morphs into Flight of the Hippogriff.

• A slew of stores from the Potter stories — including Zonko’s, Honeydukes and Three Broomsticks — will be included in Hogsmeade. Butterbeer, a staple of the stories, will be available there.

“Many of us have tasted it,” Woodbury said. “We developed a special recipe. We collaborated with Warner Bros. One of the meetings we’ve had with J.K. Rowling, we tasted and sampled some of the food items that we will have in Three Broomsticks, including butterbeer.” Orlando Sentinel

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit^SM

Universal Orlando Resort is ready to unveil one of the most radically innovative roller coasters ever created – Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit^SM. The coaster combines hit music, breathtaking first-ever maneuvers and highly sophisticated audio and video for a one-of-a-kind ride experience.

Riders will pick their own soundtrack and listen as it blasts through individual concert-quality audio systems – all while hurtling through a series of never-before-attempted maneuvers and at speeds up to 65 m.p.h. Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit’s audio system will carry songs representing five genres of music: rap/hip hop, country, classic rock/metal, pop/disco and club/electronica. Each rider’s song pick will also be featured on a ride video they can purchase that uses a network of sophisticated cameras to mix music, moves and special effects.

Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit features 3,800 feet of steel track, a 17-story vertical lift and six maneuvers – three of which have never been built before.
